Victoria's Secret Doing Away with Angels for Women Empowerment

Victoria’s Secret newest campaign is doing away with using supermodels (or Angels as they were called) in an effort to join the changing times and focus on “women empowerment, giving a platform to female athletes, activists and entrepreneurs.”

Among the new faces is actress Priyanka Chopra, professional soccer star Megan Rapinoe and five other women who have join the lingerie brand to evolve its image. The company took to Twitter to announce their exciting new partnership platform, #TheVSCollective.

“When the world was changing, we were too slow to respond,” said Martin Waters, chief executive of the brand, in an interview to The New York Times. “We needed to stop being about what men want and to be about what women want.”

“I am most excited for new customers and for those who have always been a customer of Victoria’s Secret, to feel represented and like they belong,” Chopra said in the release.
