The Weeknd is not happy with the Grammys.
The 63rd annual Grammy Awards is set to air on CBS, Sunday night, with Trevor Noah as host and performances by Taylor Swift, Cardi B, Dua Lipa, and BTS.
The ‘biggest night in music” has been losing a lot of its credibility lately since the exposure of its secretive voting system and alleged biases against Black and female artists.
The Weeknd spoke out and told The New York Times, “I will no longer allow my label to submit my music to the Grammys.” Sources say it was after the Grammys declined his nomination for the song “Blinding Lights,” which spent 52 weeks in the top 10 on Billboard Hot 100.
The Weeknd joins the list of many artists who have stood up and spoken out about the same injustice—artists including Drake, Kanye West, Frank Ocean, and Travis Scott.
