Shawn Mendes is 'Overwhelmed and Overstimulated'

Shawn Mendes recently opened up about his mental health and his struggle with it.

It’s becoming less of a taboo for celebrities to open up about their mental health, and Mendes took to Twitter to give some insight into how he’s been feeling.

On Tuesday night, Mendes made a post that included a letter typed in the Notes app, Mendes said, “Sometimes I ask myself what it is that I should be doing with my life.”

He went on to say that he always wants to be honest but feels it is difficult to do so.

“I’m afraid that if people know and see the truth they might think less of me,” said Mendes in his post.

Being in the public eye at such a young age can be difficult for many, and Mendes is just one of many celebrities who have spoken out about just that.

From his music to his relationships, Mendes is always in the media.

“The truth, in current form is a 23 year old who constantly feels like he’s either flying or drowning,” said Mendes. “Maybe that’s just what it is to be in your 20’s idk, or maybe that’s just me.”

Mendes added that despite his success he finds it difficult to feel like he isn’t failing.

“The truth is I’m overwhelmed and overstimulated lol,” he said. “The truth is ALSO that I’m okay”

Mendes’ post gained attention from fans and other celebrity friends who also joined in on the conversation of mental health, societal pressures, and being your true self.

He later followed up his post with yet another tweet in which he said, “I guess I’m like damn if I’m feeling this with all of the blessings I have I imagine there must be so many people feeling this and just don’t want them to feel alone!!”
