Country music singer Mikey Guyton is breaking records and making history as the first black female artist to host 56th Academy of Country Music Awards (ACMAs) this Sunday. The 37- year old Texas native told NBC News, “My hopes are to bring positive light and love and acceptance to this job,” as she prepared to host this year’s show alongside Kieth Urban. This isn’t Guytons’ first time standing out and paving the way for black country artists. Earlier this year, she was the first black solo female artist to earn a Grammy nomination in the country music category. In 2020 she also became the first black female solo artist to sing her song at the ACMAs.
