Denzel Washington’s directorial A Journal for Jordan is set for release by Sony’s Columbia Pictures on Dec. 10 in New York and Los Angeles, followed by a wide release on Dec. 22.
A Journal for Jordan is directed by Denzel Washington and stars Michael B. Jordan and Chanté Adams.
The film tells the true story of Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Dana Canedy’s love affair with First Sergeant Charles Monroe King.
King kept a journal which was filled cover-to-cover with poignant life lessons for their newborn son Jordan while being deployed overseas. These included lessons that still rang true after King was killed during action in 2006, with Jordan being seven months old.
Producers of the film include Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, Steve Tisch, Aaron L. Gilbert, along with both Denzel Washington and Michael B. Jordan. Jason Cloth is executive producer.
Washington last directed the Oscar-nominated 2016 film “Fences”, based on the play by August Wilson.
Other films being released on the same day are Steven Spielberg’s “West Side Story”, Universal/Illumination’s “Sing 2”, and Warner Bros/HBO Max’s “The Matrix 4”.
