I’m Sandra! We can just hear Jackée Harry saying in the 80s sitcom that also starred Marla Gibbs, Hal Williams and Regina King. Helen Martin (Pearl) and Alaina Reed (Rose Lee) passed away in 200 and 2009 respectively.
Harry will host, and Keke Palmer, Loretta Devine, Sykes, LaTanya Richardson, and Blair Underwood will perform a live virtual table read of 227 in the “Zoom Where It Happens” series Tuesday. The third show will feature an originally “Black-led show.” Shows one and two featured “The Golden Girls” and “Friends.” Tracee Ellis Ross, Regina King, Alfre Woodard, and Sanaa Lathan were a part of the GG cast. Gabrielle Union hosted the read of the popular 90s NBC sitcom along with Sterling K. Brown, Ryan Bathe, Uzo Aduba, Aisha Hinds, Kendrick Sampson, and Jeremy Pope and directed by Salli Richardson-Whitfield.
The episode of “227” is directed by Christine Swanson and produced by Emmy nominee Stephanie Allen. Palmer plays Sandra, Sykes (Pearl), Richardson (Mary), and Devine (Rose Lee). Underwood will take on the role of multiple males characters on the show.
Harry shared the excitement on her Instagram page. “Listen up, Maaaaary. We’re bringing Sandra Clark back for one night only! Join me @keke, LaTanya Richardson Jackson, @lodivadevine, @iamwandasykes, & @blairunderwood_official in the #ZoomWhereItHappens for a special rendition of 227!”
