Valerie Bertinelli Takes a Stand Against Body Shaming

Actress and Food Network star Valerie Bertinelli recently took a stand against body-shaming comments on her social media.

In a video shared on Instagram, Bertinelli shared an emotional message after receiving comments about her weight.

In the video, she says, “If I could lose the weight and keep it off I would, but since I haven’t been successful with that my whole entire life, at 61, I’m still dealing with it.”

Alongside what she says Β in the video, the star also included in her caption, “aren’t we tired of body shaming women yet?!”

After sharing the emotional video, various celebrities and friends shared supportive messages in the comments section.

Bertinelli’s son Wolf, which she had with the late Eddie Van Halen, commented, “You’re perfect the way you are Ma. I love you.”

Other stars who have also been subject to body shaming such as Demi Lovato and Khloe Kardashian also shared comments.

Lovato commented, “I love you. You said it yourself, you’re already enough AND whoever said that is hurting.. or not being shown enough compassion in their lives.. I’m sorry you had to deal w this. Here for you always.”

Khloe left a comment saying, “You are absolutely beautiful, radiant, gentle, you inspire and encourage so many people! Please do not allow people who are hurting to hurt you.”

The emotional video seemed to resonate with many of Bertinelli’s followers who have also dealt with body shaming or body image issues.

Since posting the video, the actress shared another video on Instagram thanking everyone who shared kind comments.

“There is so much kindness out there. I certainly do not feel so alone anymore,” she says in the video.
