Tom Holland and Zendaya went public with their relationship four months ago, and Holland recently opened up about it in an interview with GQ.

A hot topic of discussion when it came to their relationship was privacy or lack thereof since the couple is always in the public eye.

“One of the downsides of our fame is that privacy isn’t really in our control anymore, and a moment that you think is between two people that love each other very much is now a moment that is shared with the entire world,” said Holland.

The actor was referring to pictures of him and Zendaya that went viral in July of 2021 where the couple was photographed kissing.

Despite being out in public together more often, the couple still tries to keep their relationship as private and to themselves as they possibly can.

“I’ve always been really adamant to keep my private life private because I share so much of my life with the world anyway,” he admitted. “We sort of felt robbed of our privacy. I don’t think it’s about not being ready — it’s just that we didn’t want to [talk about it].”

Holland went on to say that he respects his girlfriend’s privacy and doesn’t feel comfortable discussing their relationship without her.

“It’s not a conversation that I can have without her,” said Holland. “You know, I respect her too much to say…this isn’t my story. It’s our story. And we’ll talk about what it is when we’re ready to talk about it together.”

Zendaya also shared a quote for GQ through a phone call in which she said, “It was quite strange and weird and confusing and invasive. The equal sentiment [we share] is just that when you really love and care about somebody, some moments or things, you wish were your own. I think loving someone is a sacred thing and a special thing and something that you want to deal with and go through and experience and enjoy amongst the two people that love each other.”

Despite keeping most of their relationship private, Holland doesn’t shy away from publically gushing over Zendaya on social media. He constantly leaves encouraging and loving comments on her posts.
