Due to the current pandemic, we have all been spending a lot more time in our homes and on our couches, and one of the things that have been keeping us occupied is entertainment in the form of movies and television.
The Golden Globe Awards recognize excellence in both American and international film and television.
This year’s 78th Golden Globes, hosted by Amy Poehler and Tina Fey, was a tad different than years passed, with celebrities accepting awards from the comfort of their homes in lieu of the pandemic and ensuring social distance.
Categories that were up for grabs included Best Motion Picture, Best Animated Picture, and Best Performance by an Actor to name a few.
Winners from the night include Best Performance by an Actress Andra Day (The United States vs Billie Holiday), Best Supporting Actor Daniel Kaluuya (Judas and the Black Messiah), and Best Original Score in a Motion Picture (Soul).
Of all the awards and acceptances of the night, there was one in particular that was truly touching to so many people.
Chadwick Boseman, who passed away last year from colon cancer, posthumously received the award for Best Performance by an Actor for his role in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.
The late actor’s wife, Simone Ledward Boseman, accepted the award on his behalf.
“He would thank God, he would thank his parents, he would thank his ancestors for their guidance and their sacrifices,” she said though her tears, “He would say something beautiful, something inspiring, something that would amplify that little voice inside of all of us that tells us ‘you can’, that tells us to ‘keep going’.”
Congratulations to all winners of the night.
