Taraji P. Henson is well known for her acting, and in a recent appearance on Good Morning America, she announced she’s working on a musical project.
Henson played a recording artist manager on Empire, and now she’s the one in the studio.
“I actually have an EP that I’m working on. Surprise!” she announced.
She went on to explain her love of music has always been strong, but becoming a mother at such a young age made her pause her dream of creating music.
She has recently shown off her musical talent with her role of Miss Hannigan on NBC’s Annie Live! and her appearance on Muppets Haunted Mansion.
“I’m just working on some really good, feel-good music,” she said.
She went on to explain why she thought it was time to do something different in her career, and how her musical roles helped inspire her to finally pursue music.
“I’m not trying to toot my own horn here but it was time for a pivot because I’ve done so many iconic roles, you know what I mean?” she said.
Along with diving into her music career, Taraji P. Henson will continue raising awareness regarding mental health. The second season of her series Peace of Mind, which is centered around mental health, will premiere on October 11.
