The Fast and the Furious franchise has dominated the box office since its first installment premiered 20 years ago, and now the ninth installment of the series is set to premier in early Summer, three days after the first movie premiered in 2001.
Universal Pictures has recently released the second official trailer for the film.
The new installment of the series titled “F9” is the sequel to 2017’s “The Fate of the Furious”.
Since the premier of the first film in 2001, the street-racing franchise has grossed over $5.8 billion dollars worldwide.
“F9” stars Vin Diesel as Dominic Toretto, who is the character that has made Diesel one of the highest paid actors in the world.
In the film we will also see the return of franchise heavy-hitting regulars Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, and Sung Kang.
Newcomers to the film will include John Cena who will play Dom’s (Vin Diesel) estranged brother, and “Guardians of the Galaxy” star Michael Rooker in an undisclosed role.
“F9” will also be the return of Charlize Theron, who first appeared as Cipher, a cyberterrorist who blackmails Dom in 2017’s “The Fate of the Furious”.
The film is directed by Justin Lin, who has also worked on four previous movies in the franchise.
It is set to be released in the United States on June 25 from Universal Pictures.
