Raven-Symone, Retta, Marsai Martin and Egypt Sherrod are Putting their Design Skills to the Test

Raven-Symone, Retta, Marsai Martin, and Egypt Sherrod were all announced to have upcoming shows with Discovery+ and HGTV.

Former “The View” co-host, Raven-Symoné will be hosting a spin-off of “What Not to Wear” called “What Not to Design.” She will be joined by design experts Nina Ferrer from HGTV’s “Design Star” and craftsman James Worsham.

Unlike the original show that dealt with people’s fashion faux pas, the hour-long episodes will be centered around helping people redesign and declutter their homes. The team will help homeowners decide on what to keep, toss, and sell before their homes get makeovers.

What Not to Design” will premiere on July 29 at 8 p.m. ET on HGTV.

Retta, best known for her role as Donna on “Parks & Recreation,” will be starring on “Ugliest Homes in America.”

The show will follow Retta traveling coast-to-coast, seeing the most “unsightly homes.” The home to win the title of “ugliest house in America” will get a $150,000 renovation.

“I loooove a renovation ‘before and after’ so to have a front row seat from beginning to end in Ugliest House in America is pretty damn exciting, especially since I fancy myself an amateur designer,” said Retta in a statement.

The show will be available on HGTV at the beginning of 2022.

Egypt Sherrod is no stranger to real estate and design, so it is no surprise that she will be teaming up with her husband Mike for the show “Married to Real Estate.”

The show will follow the couple as they help clients find their dream homes in the perfect neighborhood. Egypt will handle finding affordable properties and locations, while Mike will take care of assisting clients with renovations.

The show is expected to be available in early 2022.

Marsai Martin of “Black-ish” will also be taking a shot at design with a new unnamed series on Discovery+.

The star will not only host the show but is also going to be its executive producer.

In the show, she and her team will be surprising teens who impact their communities with room makeovers.

The eight-episode show will showcase the makeover of rooms that are, “reflective of each teen’s interests, individuality, personality, and style.”

“As a teen, my bedroom is a space where I can be comfortable in my own skin and just be free. When I walk into my room, I want it to feel like a breath of fresh air. And that’s the goal for my fellow teens who will receive these amazing bedroom makeovers,” said Martin.

The series will be available on Discovery+ in 2022.
