Kevin Hart Gets Emotional About Family Accepting the Mark Twain Award

Kevin Hart got emotional after receiving the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, a top honor for seasoned comedians. The Washington, D.C. ceremony took place on March 24 at the Kennedy Center and debuted on Netflix on May 11. As Hart stood on stage, the comedian thanked his wife Eniko and kids, who watched from their balcony seats with as much emotion as the “Reality Check” stand-up comic. Hart shared an Instagram post about the moment.

I’m not crying you’re crying….. looking at those kids broke me down. 😩😢…. Love them all so damn much!!!!! @netflix …. Mark Twain Award Ceremony….make sure you check it out.

Though there was plenty of humor throughout the ceremony (Nick Cannon prank anyone?), the video excerpt from the Netflix aired special shows Hart expressing his love and devotion to his family.

Hart choked up while thanking his kids: “I breathe for you. I live for you.” He thanked his wife for her patience. Hart credited his mother for his career (that portion of the video is not seen here) but said, “Take my mom away, and I don’t have an idea of what I want or who I want to be.”
