Kanye West Honors DMX at His Celebration of Life

The world celebrated and mourned the life of late Hip-Hop legend DMX last Saturday and Sunday. The “ Celebration of Life” was a private funeral service full of tears, smiles, and family held on Sunday. The day before, a bigger event took place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, where celebs like Eve, Nas, Swizz Beatz, and the original Ruff Ryders gathered with DMX’s kids to pay tribute to the fallen star.

Xavier Simmons , X’s Oldest son said , “Our father is a king. Our father is an icon.”  He added that he was honored to be his son: “This man deepened my ability to love.”

Other celebs like Kanye West honored X’s life in more ways than one by giving back to his family and having his Sunday Service choir perform. West’s Sunday Service Choir kicked off the ceremony with the arrangement of “Excellent” and Soul II Soul’s “Keep On Movin’.” The choir took the stage during other moments of the funeral service performing “Ultralight Beam” and Whitney Houston’s supporting vocals on the hymn “Jesus Loves Me.”

The rapper and fashion icon raised $1 million for X’s family through his Yeezy Brand.

West and Balenciaga collaborated to create a T-shirt in honor of DMX, which sold out within 24-hours of their release. All the proceeds will be given to his family.
