‘The Real’ host Jeannie Mai, and legendary Hip-Hop artist, Jeezy, got married in their Atlanta home last week. Mai gave Vogue an exclusive look inside her special day.
She told the magazine,
“We were looking forward to having all of our friends and family there to celebrate,” she explained. “But we had to change all of our wedding plans due to COVID. After Jeezy’s mother unexpectedly passed, we quickly learned that life is too short. And at the end of the day, Jeezy and I really just wanted to become husband and wife. So we decided to turn our original wedding into a mini-mony, where we exchanged our vows in front of our immediate family and a few close friends.”
After a year of being engaged, The couple had to change a lot of their initial wedding plans due to COVID. The original wedding was planned to be overseas, but they settled on a small ceremony with family and friends. All guests were required to provide a negative COVID test two days before the ceremony.
Before the two lovebirds exchanged vows, they took part in a special tea ritual performed at Vietnamese weddings, led by Mai’s brother.
“In this ceremony, we honored our parents by pouring tea as a gesture to welcome Jeezy into my family and me into his,” Mai told Vouge. “Then we paid our respects to our parents and ancestors by bowing four times, each one symbolizing a significant gift in the life that they have provided us with.”
The bride wore a custom nude Galia Lahav gown, while the groom graced us in a Teofilo Flor champagne blush suit. They both walked down the aisle to”I Can’t Stop Loving You” by Kem and “How Deep Is Your Love” by the Bee Gees. It truly was a night to remember.
Congratulations to the Beautiful Couple!
