Caitlin Clarkis officially an WNBA player. The former IOWA Hawkeyes #1 in the draft overall Monday is headed to the Indiana Fever. And a moment she describes as special.
“Sitting at a table waiting for your name to be called. I think that really allows the emotions to feed you and you’re with your family. Like obviously playing a basketball game, I’m not out there with my family, so sharing that moment with them and enjoying it and people that really had my back and believed in me more than anyone is super special.”
Clark finished her storied collegiate basketball career as Iowa’s all-time leading scorer though she and the team suffered a tough loss to South Carolina in the NCAA Women’s finals.
What’s next for Caitlin?
The “Big Ten Player of the Year” for 2023-2024 says, “Going into my professional career I plan to do the same exact thing (as in college). Every single game no matter the opponent, I prepped the exact same way. I brought the same fire and energy and I think that is the biggest thing going into my WNBA career. My focus is solely on basketball, you know being the best I can.”
And the new rookie can’t wait to play with fellow WNBA teammates Aliyah Boston and Erica Wheeler. Could there be a WNBA championship in the near future?
