Bobby Brown’s song “Every Little Step I Take” earned him a Grammy in the 90s. Its title can also describe his later years being drug and alcohol-free as he spoke with Entertainment Tonight’s co-host Nichelle Turner ahead of his upcoming documentary Bobby Brown.

“Probably one-hundred percent,” Bobby responds without hesitation to Turner’s question about how much of his and Whitney Houston’s drug use contributed to the end of their marriage.

Brown’s revelation: “If Whitney and I never got divorced, I felt like she would be alive today.” Something he believes because, as he told Turner sitting next to his wife Alicia Etheredge, “I was working on myself diligently.” Because he had stopped using drugs, he says he feels, “We would have both ended up the same way.” Meaning that he and Whitney would be clean.

Turner then brought up a hard part in the conversation that involved Brown visiting the graves of his ex-wife and daughter, Bobbi Kristina, for the first time. Turner asked, ‘What was that day like for you?” Before answering, Bobby let out a whistling sound, “That was a rough one. I don’t like gravesites,” he said. “I don’t go to funerals, but I got through it. We said our goodbyes.” Brown even shared that Whitney still comes and talks to him, which made the R&B singer and New Edition star laugh after Turner quoted one of Whitney’s famous lines.
