Angela Bassett 'Highest-earning Actor of Color on Network TV'

We don’t think any amount can match the unmeasurable talent of Angela Bassett, but a $450k raise for ‘9-1-1’ makes her the ‘highest-earning actor of color on network TV’ according to Deadline.

The actress and executive producer stars on the Fox show that debuted in 2018 and is about Los Angeles-based first responders ‘exploring high-pressure experiences.’ The series has been a hit with viewers and returns for a fifth season after a “solid season 4 rating.”

Bassett shared with theGrio the ‘breakdown’ of her 9-1-1 role as a police officer, especially ‘after the summer of 2020 and the Black Lives Matter movement.

“I think in the portrayal of Athena, who we’ve come to know her as, the type of woman she, the way she loves her family, the way she loves her profession…she’s a good representation and portrayal of the best of what we hope for in our law enforcement, and she holds that tenet. that mandate to serve and protect her community.”

The actress continued, “At its core it is entertainment…we are characters that are flawed in the way that we are…this show shows there are great traumas and dramas that we all are faced with and deal with.”

Congratulations and well deserved, Angela Bassett!
