Houston, Texas – On Saturday, Houstonian’s gathered at the 8th Wonder Brewery to celebrate “713 Day.” Hosted by rap artist Lil’ KeKe, the event celebrates and salutes Houston’s DJ’s for their efforts to give Houston artists a platform.
The DJ’s that were honored included DJ Big Tho, DJ Supastar, DJ Michael 500 Watts, DJ Gloss, DJ HI-C, and DJ Good Grief.
In 2015, former Mayor Annise Parker proclaimed Lil’ KeKe’s “713 Day,” and in 2018, Mayor Sylvester Turner proclaimed Lil’ KeKe’s “7- Thirteen Day,” where the city celebrates through art, entertainment, food, and fun.
It was a spectacular time seeing all the local Houston artists supporting each other. You saw proud Houstonian’s sipping on their beverages as they nodded their heads to the beat.
I had the pleasure of interviewing the man behind this amazing event. Check out what he had to say in the video below.
