Women’s History Month just keeps getting better! On Monday, Grammy Award-winning artist Cardi B dropped her hit single “Bodak Yellow.” The song instantly became the song of the summer and was the lead single on her debut album Invasion of Privacy.
Monday night, while rehearsing for the 2021 Grammys, she announced to fans that they’re going to be “really happy” when she shares her good news. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) Announced that “Bodak Yellow” is now certified Diamond, meaning the song is 10-times platinum and has sold 10 million copies. This is a significant milestone for Cardi, making her the first female rapper to do so. The RIAA revealed the news in a video presenting her a Diamond Plaque.
“I know I’ve been rehearsing all day today, I’m really stressed out, my body’s aching,” Cardi said. “At rehearsal, they said to me, ‘Yo, you gotta meet up with Atlantic execs.’ I’m like, ‘Yo I’m f****** tired like I don’t wanna talk about no Grammys, I don’t wanna talk about no album, I’m just tired.”
