Giuliana Rancic and Vivica A. Fox missed hosting the preshow for Sunday’s 2020 Emmy Awards when both tested positive for COVID-19.
Rancic explained her absence from hosting Sunday’s red carpet coverage during Live From the Red Carpet: The 2020 Emmy Awards via video stream.
“As I go into my 20th year on the E! red carpet I have to say I do not take missing an award show lightly, but unfortunately this year is just so different,” she said. She went on to say that because of “E! and NBCUniversal’s very strict testing guidelines,” she learned she tested positive for COVID-19.
“Now as much as I didn’t want to hear that, I’m very thankful I heard it before I traveled and possibly could have exposed other people,” she said.
Rancic shared her husband Bill and son Duke test positive as well, but says they’re “all doing well and taking care of each other.”
“I just want to say that I’m wishing you all the best and please protect yourself and protect those around you. Take good care and I’ll see you on the next red carpet.”
Vivica A. Fox revealed testing positive for COVID-19 later in the preshow. “During these unprecedented times, it’s more important than ever that we follow all safety and health rules and guidelines to protect ourselves and each other,” Fox said in a statement read during the virtual show.
E! News style correspondent Brad Goreski, E! News’ The Rundown host Erin Lim, Laverne Cox and Nightly Pop co-host Nina Parker stepped in as hosts.
