During Monday’s WNBA draft, UConn player Azzi Fudd was selected as the No. 1 overall pick for the Dallas Wings. TCU player Olivia Miles (Minnesota Lynx) was the second pick, and Spain’s Awa Fam rounded out the top third pick heading to the Seattle Storm.
Fudd is set to earn $500,000 in her rookie season as the No. 1 draft pick, which sets the bar high for future top draft contenders. And besting the starting salaries of the 2024 top picks Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese, who came into the league earning $338,056 and $324,383 respectively.
Fudd presented a couple of fashionable dress looks celebrating the momentous evening with her parents and cameras also caught a special moment when the newly minted WNBA player hugged her younger brother, Jose, first before taking the stage. The celebration continued with Fudd’s Huskies teammates, past and future, including, 2025 No. 1. draft pick, Paige Bueckers, also of the Dallas Wings, cheering her on. The two will reunite on the court for the upcoming WNBA season.
