Whitney Houston's 'The Bodyguard' Is Getting a Reboot

2021 seems to be the year of reboot announcements, with its most recent being 1992 romance-drama “The Bodyguard,” which starred Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner, is best known for Houston’s iconic cover of “I Will Always Love You.”

The success of the film’s soundtrack later helped it receive a Broadway musical adaptation.

According to Variety, the film’s remake still doesn’t have a confirmed cast, but Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson, Channing Tatum and Cardi B, and Lizzo and Chris Evans have been suggested by fans as potential pairings.

The script is being written by Tony-nominated playwright Matthew López, best known for “The Inheritance.

He is also said to be working on a remake of “Some Like It Hot,” which originally starred Marylin Monroe, and a film adaptation of the novel “Leading Men.”

Fans of the original “The Bodyguard” and Whitney Houston eagerly await to see who will play the role and if their vocals will be able to come close to Houston’s.
