I am so grateful for the community
Vivica Fox joked to the crowd of fans lined up at the Beauty Empire Super Center located just outside of Houston, “Did y’all think I was going to show up?” she asked after having made her red carpet grand entrance inside the sizable venue decorated with colorful balloon arches, and a white and gold chair fit for a queen positioned in front of the Vivica A. Fox Hair Collection backdrop. Large picture stand banners of the Hollywood star rounded out the decor as you could hear the surprised no’s from attendees in response to Fox before the actress shouted into the microphone, but I’m glad y’all showed up!
“I am so grateful for the community,” says Fox, dressed in all white with stylish high-top sneakers that added to the height of her already 5-foot-7 frame. The “Two Can Play That Game” actress is even more gorgeous in person, wearing a ponytail updo with cascading bangs from her hair product line that framed her flawless skin and immaculately applied makeup for the occasion. “We have been servicing the Vivica A. Fox Collection for over 15 years, so I always make sure that when we do these fan appreciations basically, that they see me in person,” says Fox. The actress added, “It’s just to show appreciation. You know, they (the fans) don’t have to come out. It’s the weekend and for them to see my face, for us to get some exposure for the Vivica A. Fox Collection, and to give out hugs and bring some smiles and for us also to celebrate Women’s History Month, I am appreciative.”
There was lots of energy in the building, with DJ Dinkey De spinning the jams and eventgoers temporarily abandoning their places in line to demonstrate the cupid shuffle and the wobble dance as some customers also grabbed Fox’s hair products shelved nearby to purchase and have them autographed. The meet & greet entertainment also included performances from the local D3 Elite Dance team, whose organization provides “elite dance services for families of all races, colors, creeds, religions and economic backgrounds and has a special emphasis on historically at-risk youth.” And if you’ve seen Vivica’s social media, you know she’s always doting on her Godchildren, so it’s no wonder she showed the young ones in attendance love, including the dancers, whom she made sure to acknowledge by name. That’s just who Vivica is: relatable, down-to-earth, and seeing and hearing everyone there.

The crowd consisted of men, women, and children enjoying the event’s festivities, which included a raffle giveaway with top prizes, a big-screen TV, and more music and fun. Vivica broke away momentarily from the fanfare of signing autographs and joined the eventgoers on the makeshift dance floor, surrounded by excited little ones hopping around her. It felt like a family reunion with people you didn’t know when you arrived but got to know before the day ended. It was an all-around feel-good time hosted by a woman many have only seen on the big and small screen until now.
In our one-on-one interview with the “The Lost Holliday” star, the conversation ranged from women’s beauty to entrepreneurship to how the Lifetime Network revitalized Vivica’s career and her love for Beyoncé and Meghan Thee Stallion, but not without Fox circling back to what mattered most to her at that moment—her fans. She couldn’t wait to get back to them as she walked the aisles after our interview wrapped and energetically headed back to the front of the store. She greeted an unassuming shopper along the way. “Hey, girl!” you could hear Vivica say as the woman looked up from her hand-held shopping basket and smiled at the actress, probably thinking the same as everyone there that Ms. Vivica A. Fox is really that familiar spirit, Dawlings!!!
In true star fashion, Vivica gave a shout-out to the establishment. “I just want to send a special shout-out to Beauty Empire Super Store. Thank you guys so much for having The Vivica Fox Collection to celebrate not only your girl , Vivica Fox but the beauty of hair, wigs, lipstick, it all.”
