Sherri Shepherd is keeping busy amid her talk show cancellation. The actress and comedian is set to play 9/11 survivor, Genelle Guzman in a new Lifetime movie, Angel in the Rubble. The story of a “New York City transit employee who was the last survivor pulled from the debris at Ground Zero and who spent 27 hours trapped in the rubble.” Shepherd shared the news on her Instagram with a personal message.

“Excited to announce that I will be starring in the @lifetimetv original movie, Angel in the Rubble, the fourth project under the Robin Roberts Presents banner,” says the awarding-winning talk show host.

Scheduled to premiere in September on the the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, The movie is based on Genelle Guzman-McMillan’s memoir (Angel in the Rubble: The Miraculous Rescue of 9/11’s Last Survivor).
