Los Angeles Lakers legend Elgin Baylor passed away peacefully on Monday, surrounded by his wife Elaine and his daughter Krystal by his side.
His wife made a statement shortly after his passing.
“Elgin was the love of my life and my best friend,” Elaine said in the statement. “And like everyone else, I was in awe of his immense courage, dignity, and the time he gave to all fans. At this time, we ask that our family and I be allowed to mourn his passing in privacy.”
The 11-time NBA All-Star has revolutionized the game since the 1960s. Baylor played for 14 seasons, where he managed to earn Rookie of the Year, MVP of the Year, and averaged 27.4 points and 13.5 rebounds per game. Baylor was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1977.
