Jonathan Majors breaks his silence on the Sherri Shepherd Show

Jonathan Majors recently appeared on the Sherri Shepherd show for an exclusive interview, breaking his silence with his first public comments in two years following his conviction for assaulting and harassing his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari. Shepherd expressed the positive energy and love that filled the studio during the episode. “We’ve been waiting for you.” Said the NAACP Image Award-winning talk show host. “I must tell you there are so many places you could have gone, Jonathan. You chose to come here, and I appreciate you for seeing the family,” pointing to the audience. She also mentioned, “Last time you were here was in March 2023,” with Majors chiming in, “Two years.” Shepherd went on to say, “You were starring in Marvel “Ant-Man” and “Creed III,” and I remember your career was going so great, Jonathan, and in a matter of weeks, your entire world had changed. Your name was in the headlines, your legal battles were playing out in front of everybody, and you got convicted of misdemeanor assault and harassment. Shepherd said, “I know legally you can not talk a lot about the details of what was going on, but while it was going on and you were going through all of that, how, how were you feeling?” Majors responded.

“Thank you so much for having me here. How was I feeling? Chaos came, and you talk about it, you think about it, oh you’re in war now. Oh, this is it. You’re in the middle of it. The Bible talks about trials and tribulations, but finding yourself in it is very different, and you look at the Bible differently. It’s been a journey. My love is here (Meagan), and there were days, no surprise, I lay up on the couch and wouldn’t move. It’s been a healing journey, a moment of reflection, two years of growth, healing, and accountability about who I was, where I was, what I was doing, where my mind was, and where my spirit was. I was saying to Meagan a couple of nights ago, I feel different, and I love the man I am now.” looking out into the audience and hearing the applause, Majors said, “Thank you.”

Shepherd addressed the recently leaked audio between Majors and his ex-girlfriend, with Majors responding,  “God has a plan, and sometimes you just throw your hands up. I can’t speak about it, but I do know there’s a plan, and I’ve let go of control and just say, ” hey, whatever it is it is.” She then asked about his article in the Hollywood Reporter and the conversation regarding the abuse he suffered as a child, asking, “How were you able to share that.” Majors responded, “Growth. I’m an athlete and an actor, and the two things that accompany those occupations are instructors, teachers, and mentors, and I had all that. Still, there is the third vertical, just like the self and the self, because I was so focused on career and health, and all these things Jonathan me got left to the waist side, and I left myself aside.” He said, “Therapy and my Pastor Dharius Daniels, who I love and cherish, shout out to Change Church. I was strong enough to go to it at that point.” Majors talking about his growth journey and Therapy.

During the seriousness of the interview, Majors and Shepherd shared a funny moment when Shepherd said something amusing to Majors, “If you call me ma’am one more time,” he addressed Shepherd as such at the beginning of the interview when he explained, “I’m a southern boy; I can’t help it.”

Major’s first major film since 2023, “Magazine Dream,” is set to hit theaters on March 21. The movie generated Oscar buzz before his legal troubles emerged, so it will be interesting to see how critics and audiences respond to what some may consider his comeback role in Hollywood.

What are your thoughts on Majors’ return, both personally and in the context of Hollywood?
