“It’s All For You,” Janet Jackson, the music legend, performed at the American Music Awards Sunday after seven years. Following her medley of fan song favorites, she was presented with the “Icon Award” by actress Tasha Smith.
Wearing baggy jeans, a white tee, and a white oversized jacket, the youngest Jackson sibling showed the audience that she still has the moves for a woman who will be 60 next year. Her dancing talent is still there, though less punctuated in execution and more graceful, in that Janet can still rock with the best of her background dancers without anything to prove.
Performing “Someone to Call My Lover” and “All For You,” Janer reminded the audience of the staying power of Jackson’s impact on music history. Her late brother, Michael, received 26 AMAs, and Janet has won an impressive 12.
Janet says she doesn’t consider herself an icon and that making music is the only thing she and her other famous siblings wanted to do because that’s how they were raised.
“The only thing that I hoped for is that I’ve been an inspiration to others and for artists to follow their dreams and succeed,” Janet shared in her acceptance speech. She thanked her staff, management, and all the incredible dancers, musicians, and producers she’s worked with. “To my family, who have been my biggest supporters since birth, and of course, to the fans, because of you and God, I’m standing right here.”
She’s an ICON, she’s a legend, and she is the moment! 🤩

And to a cheering crowd, who shouted, “We Love you, Janet,” and she responded, “I Love you, too,” the singer ended her speech by thanking the AMAs for the Icon Award honor and expressed that she was “humbly grateful,” before adding, “And last but not least, I want to say, keep God in every part of your life because that’s where he wants to be. I love you so much. Thank you,” she said before exiting the stage.
