Janet Jackson Presents Rihanna With Her First Fashion Award for Fenty Line

What happens when a legendary superstar presents an award to a singer turned fashion mogul? You have Janet Jackson and Rihanna sharing the same stage.That’s right, Jackson presented the Urban Luxe award to the “Work” singer’s fashion house, Fenty on Monday at the 2019 British Fashion Awards.

“You’re loved for your style, your boldness and for your strength as a woman,” Jackson said on stage. “You’re respected as a successful artist, fashion designer, activist, entrepreneur… congratulations to Rihanna for Fenty.”

Rihanna could be seen getting out of her chair and walking toward the stage, but not before grabbing her collaborator, friend, and stylist Jahleel Weaver’s hand in a video shared on Twitter.

Dressed in light teal with matching gloves, she hugged Jackson, the iconic star who Rihanna has said in the past is one of her inspirations as she accepted her award.

The company Fenty also thanked British Fashion Council for the award in a tweet.

“Thank you to the @BFC for this wonderful opportunity which means so much to me as a young black woman. This is a great achievement for our brand,” the fashion line wrote. @rihanna and FENTY are honored to win the Urban Luxe category at the #BFA 2019.”
