The beloved character Sir Oliver “Daddy” Warbucks in NBC’s live musical “Annie Live!“ has finally been filled by none other than Harry Connick Jr.
The Grammy and Emmy award-winning actor will join Taraji B. Henson, who will take on the role of Miss Hannigan, in this new spin on the beloved musical “Annie.”
“I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to play Daddy Warbucks in “Annie Live!” and working alongside Taraji P. Henson is a dream come true,” Connick said in a recent press statement.
Connick is well known for his roles in films such as “Independence Day” and “Hope Floats.” He has previously performed on Broadway, and even launched his own talk show in 2016 which won several Emmy nominations.
“We are thrilled to have Harry Connick Jr. playing Daddy Warbucks. He’s a true entertainer who sings—and dances—with the best of them, and he will bring a completely fresh approach to this character. And he will give Taraji P. Henson‘s Miss Hannigan a run for her money for Annie!,” said “Annie Live!“ executive producer Robert Greenblatt
The role of the beloved orphan Annie has not been filled yet, but NBC is opting for a nationwide search to do so.
“Annie Live!“ Is said to air Thursday, Dec. 2 2021 on NBC.
