Gwen Stefani: Singer Names New Carnival Cruise Jubilee in Galveston

“My Ship, My Ship” Gwen Stefani playfully switched the lyrics of her famous song Hollaback Girl from the 90s as she performed on stage to an audience there to celebrate the new  Texas-themed flagship Jubilee in Galveston, TX. The play on words came with her named as the ship’s Godmother in which the global superstar gave an energetic set of other hits such as “Just a Girl,” and “The Sweet Escape.” Dressed in a gold and black blazer and a skort to match with fishnet stockings and black ankle boots, her hair in a high two-toned ponytail, The Voice judge alum had the Carnival cruise crowd on its feet.

‘Welcome to Carnival Cruise Line, godmother,” said Carnival Cruise Line President Christina Duffy as she welcomed Stefani with the audience’s enthusiastic applause.

“I am so honored to be here. Thank you for having me,” said Stefani as she took to the stage and later “blessed and named the ship, and then pulled a lasso rope and lever that released the champagne bottle that struck the ship’s bow to officially christen Carnival Jubilee. A shared moment with Duffy, Mayor of Galveston Craig Brown and Captain  Stefano Bonica.

Stefani, who says she’s never been on a ship before, was excited to participate in the day’s events, which included a cocktail reception and celebratory lunch. Invited guests of public officials, community leaders, media, travel advisors, business partners, and Carnival cruisers attended the 45-minute naming ceremony in the ship’s theater.

Carnival also marked the occasion to announce its relationships with its two national charitable partners, St. Jude and Operation Homefront. Duffy shared Carnival met its goal of $33 million for the children’s research hospital in 2024 and pledged a new goal of $50 million. At the same time, a pair of Carnival Jubilee-themed cowboy boots by Houston-based Parker Boot Co. was auctioned at $25,000 to benefit Operation Homefront, which is dedicated to supporting military families. Duffy acknowledged Stefani for her generous efforts in giving back.

“I know she has been honored in so many ways for her music with numerous awards and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and now she has a ship,” said Duffy as she spoke of Stefani. “She’s also put giving back as an important focus in her life, especially to a number of children’s causes, so we are truly thrilled to have Gwen as the Godmother of our flagship Carnival Jubilee!”

The naming event included famed chef Emeril Lagasse, Carnival Chief Culinary Officer. The ceremony was also held on the same day as the 100th birthday of the late Ted Arison, Carnival Cruise Line’s founder.

So the next time you decide to sail the seas. Carnival Jubilee is a week-long Caribbean adventure from its top-deck roller coaster to a resort-like retreat. And who could resist boarding a ship whose Godmother is Gwen Stefani.

My Ship, My Ship! Congratulations Gwen!
