Tyler Perry’s political comedy Miss Governor will end after one season. Co-creator, Niya Palmer, who we spoke with when the show premiered in May 2025, says of the recent news.
“Creating ‘Miss Governor’ was a meaningful and unforgettable ride. Deep love to our cast, crew and everyone who showed up for us.”
The comedy starred actress and director, Terri J. Vaughn, (Antoinette Dunkerson) whose show concept was brought to life by Palmer and Tyler Perry. The series follows Vaughn’s character as she makes history as Mississippi’s first Black lieutenant governor. The show blended family comedy with political stakes, positioning Antoinette against Governor Harper’s (Robert Craighead) anachronistic worldview.
Terry J. Vaughn shared the news of the show’s cancellation on her Instagram Monday.
