Professional WWF and WWE wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson gives us a first-hand glimpse into his childhood and upbringing in a new sitcom, “Young Rock” that is set to premiere Tuesday, February 16, on NBC.
Focusing on the key ages of his life: 10, 15, and 18, “Young Rock” shows the audience a lot of where his personality comes from, his rebellion, and his “complicated” and “tough” relationship with his late, also famed wrestler father, Rocky Johnson.
Though there were “complications” and “tough times,” Johnson dwells on the good moments of his childhood, like traveling and being around wrestling legends and monumental female figures.
Regardless of his various trials and triumphs of his upbringing, Johnson says, “He would have loved this,” in regard to his late father, “and he would have been so proud because for the first time, certainly in prime time, we are showcasing this world that he and all his brothers of the ring, so to speak…gave their life to.”
As children, one of our main goals was to strive to make our parents proud. Dwayne Johnson has done all of that and more, and we are definitely excited to tune-in to the premiere of “Young Rock.”
