Grammy-winning singer Mary J. Blige is set to star in one of the STARZ ‘Power’ spinoffs. The news was released by creator Courtney Kemp and executive producer 50 Cent at the TCA press tour.
The hit Starz show Power which began in 2014, is set to end after its sixth season. But it won’t be the last time that we see our favorite characters on the small screen. Power creator and co-showrunner, Courtney Kemp posted to Instagram that the first show spinoff will be titled “Power Book II: Ghost.” Kemp landed and signed a deal with Starz to develop more of the series.
The spinoff is still in the beginning stages of production and will be one of the first of several according to Kemp. “Today we are pleased to announce that we are in pre-production on the first of what we know will be a collection of series inspired by the dynamic world of Power,” says Kemp during the panel. Blige also let it be known that she is a huge fan of the show and that she related to the characters so much. “I’ve known so many Tashas, I’ve known so many Ghosts. I’ve dated so many Ghosts.” she says.
The final season of Power is set to air on August 25 on Starz.
