Cory Booker reelection in Senate (New Jersey) has girlfriend actress Rosario Dawson excited.
Also an activist, Dawson shared a black and white photo of her and Booker on Instagram Wednesday with congratulatory words.
“So proud of and grateful for you my love. I got to vote for you here in New Jersey and am so glad that you overwhelmingly and rightfully won your seat again,” Dawson wrote. “To know your leadership will continue to guide us with love, brilliance, patience, grace and effectiveness is the kind of representation and hope we need.”
She continued, “We saw record turnout and need to keep building so that we can win both houses and make real change! #EyeOnThePrize #MIDTERMS #2022IsAroundTheCorner.”
The couple has been dating since 2018, when they both attended a political fundraiser for a mutual friend. Dawson is equally as vocal in her own right when it comes to “causes she cares about.” She is co-founder of Voto Latino, an organization now in its 15th year that encourages Latinx voters. She also advocates for violence against women through V-Day, and her involvement in the Lower East Side Girls Club aimed to end the cycle of neighborhood poverty in New York, where she was born.
When Booker also shared the news of his reelection on Instagram and thanked the people. Dawson didn’t shy away from commenting there too. “Congratulations my love, I’m so grateful for your leadership and your team. We need you.”
