The writer, actress, producer, says she always wanted to own a black-owned in her neighborhood of Inglewood, California to get a cup of brew. Rae teamed up with Hilltop Coffee and Kitchen owners, Ajay Relan and Yonnie Hagos to bring her Hilltop coffee shop dreams to fruition.
The 34-year-old “Insecure” shared the news in a previous video she posted to Instagram.
“I’ve always wanted a coffee shop in my neighborhood.”
“Coffee shops facilitate productivity in so many ways, they facilitate collaboration.”
“I personally have done all of my writing in coffee shops. So it always disappointed me that there weren’t any that were Black-owned, people of color-owned in my neighborhood.”
The star of the upcoming romantic comedy, “The Photograph” is proud to open the coffee shop in an area she calls home and to have it in a place of comfort.
Hilltop will employ people from the neighborhoods, where they will be paid above the minimum wage. The new shop is 3,500 square feet and two stories. Menu include teas, lattes, sandwiches, waffles, salads and more.
