In her latest movie Like a Boss, Tiffany Haddish plays the character of Mel, who owns a beauty company with her best friend, Mia (Rose Byrne). The two soon see how business can turn sour when a cosmetics mogul (Salma Hayek) offers them a sweet deal.
If that’s not enough to keep the comedian and actress busy, she will also appear in the upcoming Netflix series, Madam C.J. Walker. Haddish will play Lelia Walker, the daughter of Madam C.J., played by Octavia Spencer.
Much like breakout film, Girls Trip, Haddish, 40, finds herself part of another female comedy. Since that time, she hosted Saturday Night Live in 2017, becoming the first African-American female stand-up comedian to do so, and earned an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series.
She starred in the film Night School in 2018, with fellow comedian/actor Kevin Hart, and Her Netflix comedy special, Black Mitzvah premiered on December 3, which is also her birthday. Haddish recently paid homage to her Jewish faith by wearing a Star of David necklace at the 77th Annual Golden Globes, Sunday, January 5.
Like a Boss’ hits theaters Friday, Jan 10.
