Tavior Dontae Mowry, who goes by “Dontae” professionally as a musician, spoke with the ‘Twins of Media’ about his recent wedding, new music, and growing up in the Mowry household.
The youngest of siblings Tia, Tamera, and Tahj Mowry, had just arrived home from a long drive from Florida to where he now lives in Nashville when he sat down via video Friday. Right off, we congratulated him on his recent wedding to Zandy Mowry, née Fritzgerald. The couple eloped in a live-streamed ceremony Monday, Sept. 21, to be fair to both sides of their family, not attending because of travel challenges with the pandemic. He shares what he most remembers about the day.
“I remember a lot. Super HD vivid, he says, but I will probably say the look in my wife’s eyes at the altar. That’s probably what I remember the most.”
He shared a photo of him and his new bride the same day they exchanged vows with the caption. Mr. & Mrs. Mowry. 9.21.20 God is GOOD. It’s SO LIT!!!

Mowry, whose wife was born and raised in Nashville, says living there with his bride has one-percent influenced his music career.
“I play different instruments, and so people in this city are more inclined to listen to music with a lot of instrumentation. It’s a different culture out here. The people are more tangible, and when I say people, It’s like, ‘Hey, that dude won a Grammy, but he’s getting coffee here.’ And he will have a complete conversation with you. Whereas LA., you have to go through five people to go through the manager’s manager. Nashville is very down to earth. I enjoy it a lot.”
The former college football player taught himself how to play the guitar after sustaining a few sports injuries. “YouTube University,” he jokes on how he learned the instrument. And with football season here, he shares his favorite team is the L.A. Rams.
The interview continues with five questions about growing up in the Mowry household. Hint: One includes 90s sitcoms and Netflix. Watch Mowry answer, followed by his words of advice for “waiting” until marriage. His new music, an EP, will roll out this winter and will follow his album from last year titled Honey Part I.
