We take a look at Sherri Shepherd and actress Nia Long historic careers in celebration of Women’s History Month. However, Shepherd’s opening monologue on her talk show Monday revealed that she and producer Jawn Murray attended the premiere of “Othello” on Sunday, March 23, a Broadway production starring Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal. It was during the segment that she mentioned a confrontation with an unnamed celebrity. Since news of the confrontation broke, many fans have wondered who the unnamed celebrity was. Page Six and TMZ reported that the unnamed celebrity was actress Nia Long.
Shepherd said she was conversing with Devale (BET’s Zatima) and his wife Khadeen Ellis when the unnamed celebrity grabbed her arm and turned her around.
“I’m standing there talking. Somebody grabbed my arms, and they forcefully turned me around,” Shepherd recalled on Monday’s broadcast. ‘So I’m in a good mood, so I go, ‘Hi, what’s going on?’ ’cause I know her. And she says to me, she goes, ‘You’ve been shading me a lot.” The unnamed celebrity accused the award-winning talk show host of “shading” them on her daytime show.
Shepherd, who denied the accusation, still received pushback from the unnamed celebrity. ‘Yes, you have,’ and then she just walked off,” said Shepherd, leaving the former “The View” cohost confused.
“It might be one person I shade and I … I never have shaded this unnamed celebrity,” she said.
“I would say to unnamed celebrity because you think I shaded you — which means you watch my show — I don’t know who you think I am. I think you got me confused with somebody, one of the bloggers or the influencers, because I know I didn’t shade you,” Shepherd added.
Shepherd ended the story about the confrontation by inviting the unnamed celebrity to discuss the incident on her talk show couch.
Shepherd, whose talk show was just renewed for a fourth season, has been in the industry for decades. Long and Shepherd have had some historic career moments—two black women of a particular age still working in Hollywood—Shepherd is a respected and talented comedian, Stand-up Comic, actress, and talk show host. Long is widely recognized as one of Hollywood’s most beautiful black actresses and starred in “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air as Will Smith’s girlfriend, Lisa, and appeared in notable films such as “Boyz N the Hood,” “Friday,” and “The Best Man,” movie franchise. Long is set to portray the Jackson matriarch, Katherine Jackson, in the upcoming biopic, “Michael.”
Shepherd and Long are two celebrities with remarkable careers in their respective fields, and that is something to mention for Women’s History Month.
