Rebecca King-Crews announced she has Parkinson’s disease. She shared the news exclusively on the TODAY show Tuesday. An actress in her own right, the singer and author revealed that she recently underwent a newly-approved procedure to help manage her symptoms.
“I feel good,” King Crews said during the segment. “I’m able to write my name and my dates, and I’m able to write with my right hand for the first time in probably three years.”
King Crews was diagnosed with the neurodegenerative disorder back in 2015. After almost three years of misdiagnosis. King Crews was told by physicians, she likely suffered from anxiety, though she had already been experiencing numbness in her left foot and hand tremors.

We reflect on King Crews’ health journey while as a guest on the ‘Twins of Media LIVE’ Show in 2021, not knowing at the time that the author was privately battling Parkinson’s disease. King-Crews shared she had “styled her hair” just for our show. An act made even more special now… knowing that the task many of us take for granted was something she had to overcome that day to just show up.
