Michael Jai White revealed that his eldest son died from COVID-19 months ago at the age of 38. 

The actor talked about the tragic news during an interview with VladTV. White, who was just 15 years old when his son was born, says the two “grown up together.” 

“Unfortunately, he was still kinda out there in the streets hustling, wasn’t doing well, started getting on substances,” White shared. “He’d come out, go back in, all that type of stuff,” says White. Explaining it was the “street element,” that also contributed to his death.

White also shared how he tried to do right by his son but that “ultimately” it is up to the person, especially a grown person.” 

“The substance abuse reportedly made his system compromised, and he left behind six children,” White says of his son’s death in which he was hospitalized for some time. 

“COVID was waiting for him… That was the knockout blow.”
