The Kelly Clarkson Show has completed one-year (it debuted September 9, 2019) on NBC. Thanks in part to its host Kelly Clarkson who initially had reservations hosting a daytime talk show, something she shared with the Los Angeles Times.
“I will be completely honest, and I have been since the beginning: I did not want this job,” the American Idol winner turned Grammy-winning superstar said. The new creative opportunity eventually grew on her more so during the coronavirus pandemic. “I say that it’s the dream I didn’t know I had because I talk to so many people, and not just celebrities. I’ve talked to the people that have been hit hardest in all of this.” And those “everyday” stories “have just lifted my spirits” when everything is going wrong, Clarkson continued.
Clarkson, whose professional life has not skipped a beat, is currently going through a divorce with her husband of seven years, Brandon Blackstock. The singer-songwriter hasn’t said much about what caused her marriage to end “because there’s kids involved.” Fans will likely hear her story with the “album she’s working on right now.”
“I’m incapable of not incorporating it into my music because that is my outlet.”
