The nation’s first-ever youth poet laureate Amanda Gorman, who acquired national attention and praise for her thunderous poem “The Hill We Climb” at the inauguration of President Biden, is set to recite her literature before Super Bowl LV.
After her recitation of “The Hill We Climb”, the 22-year-old began receiving blessings and opportunities from every direction. Along with the invitation to recite her poetry at the upcoming Super Bowl, Gorman also has received a modeling contract with one of the world’s top modeling agencies IMG Models. In addition, because of such high demand, all three of Gorman’s books are getting 1 million print orders each. How is that for #BlackGirlMagic!
Gorman’s poem at the Super Bowl will honor and highlight three people for their work during the coronavirus pandemic. Those people are a Florida nurse manager Suzie Dorner, Los Angeles educator Trimaine Davis, and James Martin, Marine veteran who volunteers with the Wounded Warrior Project. They have been named honorary captains for the game as well.
Gorman continues to make history and break down barriers, all while inspiring a new generation of warriors for change. No matter where this journey will take her, she has us all behind her, ready to support her every step of the way.
Amanda Gorman’s poem recitation and the Super Bowl will air Sunday, February 7th at 5:30 PM
