Tina Knowles, affectionately known as Miss Tina or Mama Tina, does what most mothers who are proud of their children do on social media. Share, support, protect, and share some more. Sure, she’s birthed two amazingly talented daughters, Beyoncé and Solange, but her motherly touch is no different from what any loving mom would do for hers. And we love Miss Tina for it, and it’s three reasons why we say she’s the “mom we need on social media.
Relatable: When we feel like we can’t reach Bey or Solange on social media. There’s Miss Tina showing up videos or posts from an event and she makes it so much fun, like we’re there ourselves. She has this way of not oversharing but giving us just enough to make even the fanciest of events relatable to her audience, who delight in seeing Miss Tina have good times in the presence of her children.
Protector: You come for Mama Tina’s kids; you come for her. Most recently, she came to the defense of Beyoncé when comments ran rampant about her daughter’s skin color in photos from the “Renaissance” concert film premiere. Donning long platinum tresses and a shiny silver dress could easily give an illusion of lightened skin just by the color scheme and camera lighting, but some fans may not have considered that an option. Nonetheless, Miss Tina quickly addressed the social media commenters funneling the rumors.
“She does a film, called the renaissance, where the whole theme is silver with silver hair, a silver carpet, and suggested silver attire and you bozos decide that she’s trying to be a white woman and is bleaching her skin?” the 69-year-old matriarch wrote. “How sad is it that some of her own people continue the stupid narrative with hate and jealousy. Duh, she wore silver hair to match her silver dress as a fashion statement clown. . ALIEN Superstar duh!”
Miss Tina sounds like any mother who knows that her children will likely pull them aside and say, “You’re doing too much,” (Laugh) and the matriarch mentioned that her superstar daughter would probably not like what she’s done, but if we could think what Mama Tina was thinking, we would guess she’s saying, “A mother’s got to do what a mother’s go to do.”
Support: Mama Tina is ALWAYS going to support hers. What’s not to love about how she uplifts Beyoncé, Solange, Kelly, Michelle, LeToya, LaTavia, her grandkids, her wonderful industry friends, and even strangers who inspire her, and she shares those special moments on her socials. Speaking of Solange, Miss Tina was the happiest supporter of her youngest when Solange became the first Black woman and the second woman of color to compose a score of a production for the New York City Ballet.
