Tamron Hall, Sherri Shepherd, and Jennifer Hudson are some of the familiar faces we will see on talk show television this fall. Hall currently hosts Tamron Hall. It debuted in 2019 and was renewed for two more seasons taking the show into 2024. Shepherd, the permanent guest host of The Wendy Williams Show (until it ends for now), shared the news last month to her social media followers that she will be getting her very own show Sherri on Fox in September 2022. Hudson’s news was a surprise to us, but we can’t wait to see the multi-award-winning singer and actress hosts the Jennifer Hudson Show, also debuting in the fall.
Hall said in a statement in late 2021, “ABC’s decision to give our show a two-season renewal is beyond my wildest dreams.” The veteran journalist added, “I am so lucky to have such great partners, from ABC to all of our stations across the country, and an amazing team who all support the spirit of the show.”
Fans can appreciate Hall’s experience in news and television that authenticate people’s stories through talk and interviews.
Shepherd, whose early beginnings as a television host, came with sharing a table with three to four other women hosts on Barbara Walter’s The View. Since then, the actress, comedian, and author has enjoyed various television and film projects and created projects during the pandemic like Two Funny Mamas with fellow actress and comedian Kym Whitley. The podcast recently won an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Podcast in the lifestyle and Self-Help category. You can also see Shepherd having fun embarrassing her teenage son Jeffrey on Instagram and sharing her health journey, including losing weight and incorporating more fitness into her lifestyle.
Hudson, who portrayed the late Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin in RESPECT last summer, says this about adding talk show host to her already impressive career resume, including Grammy Awards and an Academy Award.
“People from around the world have been a part of my journey from the beginning – twenty years ago – and I’m so ready to join their journey as we sit down and talk about the things that inspire and move us all,” Hudson continued. “I have always loved people and I cannot wait to connect on a deeper level and let audiences see the different sides of who I am, the human being, in return.”
We first saw Hudson as a contestant on American Idol in 2004, but she was eliminated before the top finals. Her career took off in 2006 with her Oscar-winning role in Dreamgirls. Hudson has also starred on Broadway in the Color Purple. Recently, she won an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture for RESPECT and Entertainer of the Year during February’s ceremony.
With Ellen and Wendy Williams leaving the television airwaves soon, we look forward to more Tamron Hall and will cheer on the debuts of both Sherri and The Jennifer Hudson Show.
