The musical icon, Janet Jackson, gave fans a special treat on Labor Day.

On Monday, the singer shared a teaser for her upcoming two-part documentary, “Janet,” on her Instagram.

The documentary has been in the works for five years now and follows the star’s career as a singer.

The film gives a behind-the-scenes look at the star’s life after the death of her father and shares moments during her rise to fame, as well as some of the obstacles she’s overcome over time.

The documentary is full of behind-the-scenes footage of her concerts, home movies, and interviews with her celebrity friends.

Included among those friends who are featured in the film are Mariah Carey who calls Jackson “an empowered woman,” and Paula Abdul who says, “She is a force to be reckoned with.”

The teaser featured the singer’s 1986 hit “Control” and gave a look at some footage of her childhood, featuring her famous family, including her brother Michael Jackson and father Joe Jackson.

“This is my story told by me, not through someone else’s eyes. This is the truth. Take it or leave it, love it or hate it. This is me,” says the singer in a voice-over.

The four-hour documentary, produced by Lifetime and A&E, is set to premiere in January 2022.
