DJ Cassidy “Pass the Mic” with Sheila E, Chaka Khan, El Debarge, Jody Watley, Lisa Lisa, Denise Williams, Cameo and More

DJ Cassidy’s “Pass the Mic” series on Twitch made an appearance Sunday after the 2020 Soul Train Awards. Broadcasted on VH1 and MTV2, the “Pass the Mic: BET Soul Train Edition” included a host of R&B legends of the 80s.

“I’m passing the mike to iconic R&B legends of the 1980s, who gave birth to some of the greatest dance records of all time,” said Cassidy.

Sheila E, Chaka Khan, El Debarge, Jody Watley, Lisa Lisa, Denise Williams, Cameo, Morris Day, Jerome, Shannon made appearances as the artists featured.

Watley has a history with Soul Train. She started as a dancer on the music-dance television program at the age of 14 before joining the group Shalamar which founder and host Don Cornelius had a hand in making her a part of the singing trio that included Howard Hewett and Jeffrey Daniel.

Fans were in for a treat watching DJ Cassidy and all the talented artists mentioned. The New Yorker born as Cassidy Podell also served as house DJ for the Soul Train Awards hosted by Tisha Campbell and Tichina Arnold.
