Rihanna Spotted During #StopAsianHate Protest in New York City

There has been a growing number of hate crimes against minority groups in the United States, with Asian’s being the most recent, unfortunate target.

In recent months, #StopAsianHate became a social movement following the growing number of hate crimes against the Asian community.

Some advocates and activists of the cause say that these hate crimes are often linked to the belief that Asian people are to blame for the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

The movement has gained the support of civilians worldwide and also celebrities, with some even being on the frontlines of protests and rallies.

A #StopAsianHate protest was held on April 5th in New York City, with one artist in particular who attended the event with little to no one recognizing them.

Singer, actress, entrepreneur, and philanthropist Rihanna attended today’s protest alongside her assistant Tina Truong.

Truong and others shared photos to their social media platforms of the singer, who went incognito with long braids, all-black, a black hat, and black face mask.

Rihanna went all-in during the protest by actively walking through the streets, chanting, and making protest signs.

Truong, Rihanna’s personal assistant, captured moments from the day and posted them to her social media stories and feeds, therefore encouraging more people to join the protest.

“This is what solidarity looks like!” Truong wrote on her Instagram feed accompanied by a slideshow of pictures and videos from the day.

One thing that made Rihanna’s presence at the protest more powerful, was that mostly no-one knew she was there.

One protester was stunned after asking for the singers Instagram handle after marching together, and unbeknownst to him, he was marching with the singer the entire time.
