"Marlon" Show Canceled

The television show Marlon has been canceled. The comedy starred Marlon Wayans and Essence Atkins and was loosely based on the life of Wayans.  The half-hour sitcom aired for two seasons on NBC and included fellow cast members; Bresha Webb, Diallo Riddle, Notlim Taylor and Amir O’Neil. The series had a solid first season with 5.6 million viewers, but averaged only 3 million viewers in it’s second season.

Atkins took to Twitter to express her heartfelt thoughts on what the show meant:

“This show gave me new friends who became family helped me heal after my own divorce and allowed me to thrive doing what I love to do. Thank you @marlonwayans for assembling such a fantastic group of people who not only are talented but also extraordinarily dope and kind!”

Marlon will air its final episode on Dec. 28. Fans of the series can hope for the best, as it is reported the show is being shopped to other outlets. In the meantime, we wish the entire team the best!
