Gayle King inked a new $11 million-a-year deal with CBS News as reported by Page Six. In the midst of CBS’ morning show and evening news broadcasts, King has doubled her salary and will remain as host of CBS This MorningThis is great news and a significant pay raise from her previous salary of $5 million a year.  King’s best friend Oprah said she had told King to go for broke as she negotiated a new contract with the network. “I said, ‘Get what you want. Get exactly what you want, because now’s the time. And if you don’t get what you want, then make the next right move,’ ”

Such news comes at a great time— given King was recently included in the Time 100 Most Influential People list. Even gracing its cover which debuted in April. King was 1 of 6 who shared the honor along with DeWayne Johnson, Taylor Swift, Nancy Pelosi, Mohamed Salah and Sandra Oh. Let’s not forget her interview with R&B star R. Kelly that many viewers tuned in to see and praised the journalist on her calm demeanor in the face of a less than poised guest.  

Changes in the CBS morning show lineup include the departure of Noral O’Donnell who will take over as anchor of CBS Evening News. With King, will be co-anchor Anthony Mason from “CBS This Morning: Saturday and CBS News correspondent Tony Dokoupil. John Dickerson will moved to “60 Minutes” in a political role says a source.
